August 23 - Learning
Well, I go back into the classroom this week, but instead of being the teacher at the front of the room, I’ll be one more student in the room.
I am starting my third attempt at graduate school this Wednesday. The first was a graduate-level certificate program to complete my teaching certification, so I had a specific goal – to pass my certification exams, which I did (yay, me!).
The second time around I attempted a master of science in teaching and learning, but I found it to be excruciatingly boring. I felt as if I was repeating my teacher certification classes because almost every homework assignment was something about make a lesson plan, or create a lesson plan and teach your students using this method, or teach your students using these resources, blah blah blah. It was so redundant, and I was not very happy with it, and, I dropped out with maybe one semester left to go.
So here we go, lucky number 3! It’s education-adjacent, a master’s in instructional design.
Hopefully, it’ll be a bit more interesting than the last program; hopefully, I can find ways to make it more interesting. Hopefully, I’ll actually be learning something new, or at least a new way of applying the knowledge that I have.
And, hopefully, these affirmations will help me keep in mind that I do love learning. Hopefully, I will remember that I am, ultimately, in charge of my learning and my education, and that I can make this program what I choose.
And, hopefully, they will help you whenever you are learning something new.
