August 9 - Time
Time is kind of a funny concept – you always think you have more of it than you actually do. I’ve definitely found this to be true over the past several months. I thought I had two more months in Korea than I did, but my contract ended early. I thought I had years with my brother, but no one would have thought he’d die at the age of 35. I start grad school in 2 1/2 weeks, and the date seems to be both dragging and speeding toward me. I’m visiting friends in California, and I know that right now it feels like I have all the time in the world here, but these 2 weeks are going to feel like moments by the end.
I feel like I have all the time in the world to do all of the things that I want to do. The reality is that I probably don’t. In fact, most likely I DON’T have as much time as I think, or hope, I do.
But one thing I am going to do, what I am going to try to do, is use whatever time I have – with the people that I love, with myself, with travel, with graduate school – to try my best to be aware of it, and to be present for each moment of it, no matter how long or short those moments are.
These affirmations are to help us remember that time can truly be our ally.
