Day 29 - I Accept My Emotions

Emotions. The good ones are great! The bad ones…not so much. We love feeling happy, sexy, fun, smart. Feeling angry, sad, scared, unworthy….yeah, those aren’t as much fun.

But the not-so-fun emotions are just as important as the fun ones. They matter to our emotional and mental well-being just as much. All emotions give us valuable information about our environment and our lives. They help us process that information. They give us clues about what to change and what to embrace. 

Pushing our emotions away delays that information process. And we can really damage ourselves. Because the emotions never really go away – they just dig in, and eventually push out again in even more damaging ways.

But accepting them, allowing them to run their course, actually helps them heal and fade faster. We learn a little more about ourselves. And feel a little more compassion for ourselves. 

We can always use more of that.
