March 8 - What If...?
This week’s affirmations are a bit different than the usual ones. They may be a bit triggering for some people, so please take them slowly, and pause whenever you need to.
I’ll admit, as I was writing them and recording them, I could feel my anxiety rising. But it was an interesting variety of anxiety. It was more like anticipatory anxiety. Like my brain and body wanted so much for them to be true, but were afraid of getting their hopes up. Like when we were kids and really really wanted a particular present, and really really hoped our parents would get it for us, but were really really scared to hope too much, in case we were disappointed.
I firmly believe that affirmations work much better if they are something we can believe. For example, if I say, “I am a millionaire,” that’s pretty difficult for me to believe because I know how much money is in my bank account. However, if I say, “I am abundant,” or, “I have abundance,” I can actually see many examples of that in my life, so that’s much more believable.
If I say, “I am healthy in all ways,” I can think of some ways I’m not necessarily very healthy. However, if I say, “I am becoming healthier and healthier every day,” that is something I can truly believe, because I do progressively eat better, I do progressively exercise more, I do progressively get better at handling my mental health. Therefore, I AM getting healthier.
But what if we took the phrases that we don’t quite believe, the ones like “I am wealthy,” or “I have a life I love,” what if we take those and change them to, “What if I had this?”
We have pretty good imaginations. Can we imagine these things being true? Can we imagine our lives going exactly the way we want them to? Can we imagine being as successful as we want, having the life that we want, loving ourselves as we are? How would that manifest for us?
I wrote these affirmations to help us imagine our best life.
