Day 29 - Embrace the Darkness
I quoted the poet Rumi in the Embrace the Light affirmations, but he has some pretty cool things to say about darkness as well:
Be patient where you sit in the dark. The dawn is coming.
Life’s waters flow from darkness. Search the darkness, don’t run from it.
All despair is followed by hope; all darkness is followed by sunshine.
It’s so easy to dismiss the importance of darkness. It’s something we run from, something we avoid.
But darkness is important.
It’s really, really, important.
Seeds sprout underground, in the dark. A plant’s roots grow down, into the darkness. Before we were born, our world was darkness.
In the darkness, we can find the courage to face our fears, confront our insecurities, and delve into the depths of our souls.
Embracing the darkness allows us to uncover hidden truths. That’s one of many reasons it’s so scary – we think we don’t know what’s there.
But we do. We may shy away from it, but we know what’s in the dark.
That’s where our humanity is.
Let;’s embrace the darkness, and our humanity.
