Day 17 - Health
Nothing stated here is intended as medical or mental health advice. I am not a licensed medical practitioner, nor do I present myself as such. Please consult with your chosen health care provider for your specific situation.
Just like abundance is more than having material wealth, health is so much more than having a functioning mind and body. Sometimes, we can’t have the health we crave in our bodies or minds. We may have an imbalance that causes a disorder in our brain. We may have an illness or injury that causes our bodies to not be at what we think is an optimal place. No matter what state we are in, we have to decide what healthy is for us, with the guidance of a health care practitioner.
I feel that a huge part of being healthy is accepting and loving our minds and bodies for what they can do and what they have done for us. Health is not measured by numbers on a scale, or what way of eating we follow most diligently. It’s taking time to care for ourselves. It’s allowing ourselves to do what is reasonable and good for our minds and bodies. It’s enjoying the way our bodies feel, the way they move, the pleasure we can have with them. It’s appreciating everything we can do with our minds and bodies, doing all that we can, and resting whenever we need to.
Sometimes what we can do one day is very different from what we can do another day. Sometimes we need a lot more rest one day than we do another. Health is accepting that our bodies and mind change, and loving ourselves with and through those changes.
I wrote these affirmations in the hope that we can remember this.
