Day 18 - Inner Strength
Inner strength is a quality that helps us in so many ways. When faced with a situation that we can’t control or change, inner strength helps us to accept it and even walk away from it if we need to. Inner strength helps us to look for ways to survive when things are falling apart around us. It helps us to stand up again when the world has knocked us down.
Inner strength isn’t just about depending on ourselves, though. It’s also about being able to trust ourselves to know who we can lean on, and allowing ourselves to do so. It’s often easier to say that we’re fine, that we don’t need anything, that we can do it on our own. We know that’s not always true. Inner strength is also about using our inner wisdom to find those who are worthy of our trust, knowing we can depend on others, and allowing ourselves to let them help us. It takes a special courage to lean on others when our own strength is not enough just then.
Inner strength is doing the things we really don’t want to do, because they need to be done. It’s working to develop habits that are good for us, and controlling those habits that aren’t so good. It’s allowing ourselves to make mistakes and learning from them.
Ultimately, it’s about loving ourselves enough to give ourselves what we need, when we need it, especially when what we need doesn’t feel very good.
