February 8 - Creativity
It’s so unfortunate that as we get older we don’t think of ourselves as being creative. When we were children, we naturally created! We’d sing, we’d dance, we’d draw everywhere! We did all of these things naturally, instinctively, without being taught or told to do it. Give a child some crayons or a pencil or some markers, and they will draw anything and everything that comes to their minds – sometimes in places we don’t really want them to. Give a child a stick, and they will drum away at the rhythm in their head. Play some music, and they will dance around for the sheer joy of it.
We have that creative spark. Innately. Naturally. No matter what.
Unfortunately, as we get older, we begin to feel, or maybe we are told, that creativity is only for the experts, only for the artists, the dancers, the singers. We are taught that creativity is only for the special. As if it isn’t a part of every human’s experience.
In fact, we’re all creative. We are constantly creating.
And one of the most important things that we create is our own lives.
I hope that these affirmations help us to return to that innate creativity that we have always had inside us – and find the freedom of expressing it.
