Day 21 - I Release The Future
1/21/20251 min read
The future keeps coming - and coming - and coming. It’s always coming. It never stops coming.
No wonder we get anxious about it.
Thinking about the future, planning for the future, worrying about the future, takes up a ton of mental space and energy. It can be exhausting.
But when we’re so focused on the future, we miss the now.
We hold on so tightly to the future, we miss the beauty of today. We miss the joy of the sunset. We miss the peace of the moonrise.
We can’t forget the future completely. But we can release it for a time.
Releasing the future doesn’t mean we stop dreaming or planning. We just let go of the attempts at control.
Because, honestly, we can’t control the future. We can only control how we respond to it.
Let’s use these affirmations to let go of the pressure we put on ourselves to be in control of something we can never control. Let’s let go of the pressure to have everything figured out.
Let’s open ourselves to the present - to the joy of today, to the spontaneity of the moment.
To trust.
Let’s release the future.

I have two quotes for you today. One is from the Noble Prize winning theoretical physicist, Albert Einstein:
I never think of the future - it comes soon enough.
The other is from the world-renowned GenX philosopher, Ferris Bueller:
Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
