Day 23 - I Release Expectations
1/23/20251 min read

We often have an image in our minds about what our life is supposed to look like. Our friends are supposed to act this way. Our children are supposed to be this way. Our job is supposed to be like this.
All those supposes are expectations. And they are weighing us down.
Expectations can give us goals and direction - and they can trap us in disappointment, frustration, and self-doubt.
Things sometimes don’t go as planned.
Actually, let's be real - things usually don’t go as planned.
Life usually doesn't meet our expectations. And holding on to those expectations can rob us of a lot.
Curiosity. Pleasant surprise. Gratitude. Joy.
We can make plans. We can have hopes and dreams.
And, we can free ourselves from the pressure to control everything. We can let go of thinking about what “should” happen and appreciate what is happening.
We can release our expectations, and create space for something wonderful beyond our expectations.
